Now, traveling to northern British Columbia has broadened his Canadian experience. Al Kontar has become a Canadian permanent resident after not having the paperwork to remain in Kuala Lumpur and not wanting to return to Syria.
He wasn’t welcome anywhere else until November 2018, when a sponsor from Whistler, BC, helped him with finding asylum in Canada.
