After over two years, Canada had its first in-person citizenship ceremony in July this year. The Federal Citizenship Minister, Sean Fraser, and other dignitaries attended the occasion. The Canadian citizenship ceremony welcomed 26 new citizens who were from nine separate countries.
Canada Immigration Express reported that the individuals who took the oath were joyous to finally become citizens of Canada. Some of the 26 new citizens were The Egbes. Amas and Osauyi couldn’t contain their joy as they became citizens four years after emigrating from Nigeria to Canada. They were at the BMO Amphitheatre in Stampede Park for the ceremony with their three-year-old boy, Brian, who was a Canadian by birth.
Amas acclaimed the day as one of his life’s best days. Amas remarked that he knew Canada was somewhere he could build a good life with his family. He had his first taste of Canada in 2013 when he went to university. Amas mentioned that as a student in the country, everyone was happy and willing to render him help. So, these attributes built his confidence and assured him that Canada was the place to be.
Immigrants Are Valuable to Canada
At the Canadian citizenship ceremony, Minister Fraser addressed the new citizens. According to Canada Immigration Express, the minister mentioned that Canada is welcoming by nature. Thus, welcoming newcomers is not what Canadians do, but who they are. He emphasized that Canadian communities depend so much on immigrants. So, they value them greatly.
One of the dignitaries and speakers at the event was judge Carol-Ann Hart. The judge mentioned to the new citizens that Canada is known for diversity and unity. She, thus, encouraged the newcomers to support building a stronger and more vibrant Canada.
