In recent times, there has been a substantial economic migration to Canada. This phenomenon is due to the country’s evolving plan for Canadian immigration levels. This plan emphasizes the entrance of higher numbers of permanent residents with the required work skills and experience. Also, it focuses moderately on immigration for family members and refugees.
Generally, the federal government is committed to overcoming the critical labour shortage across Canada. As a result, the government aims to admit 500,000 newcomers into the country each year by 2025.
Aging of Canada's Labour Force
The critical labour shortage in Canada can be attributed to the aging of the country’s labour force. This situation has left limited workers in the country to support retired people. The fewer workers also offer significant support for essential public services like hospitals and schools.
With Canadian immigration, the issue of labour shortages can be addressed. On the other hand, some think the influx of immigrants will put more pressure on the scarce affordable housing in many parts of the country. But Canada Immigration Express reported that the Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, suggested the new workers arriving through immigration will allow for the construction of more homes. This will be possible by the new workers addressing a shortage of skilled tradespeople in Canada.
The New Plan to Increase Immigration Levels
The plan to increase immigration to Canada in the next three years is mainly to bolster the economy. But the plan will also increase the number of family members who will gain entrance into the country.
